Believe it or not, we sometimes come up with Leonards whom we can’t place or whose parents are unknown.  This page is devoted to identifying those Leonards for whom we’re searching.  Please notify me, brad.lnrd at gmail.com, if you have information that might lead to their capture!

 

Charles Carroll Leonard, born either 12 Nov 1819 or sometime between 1817 and 1821 in MA, perhaps Raynham.  He ran away from home, by then in NY, at an early age, perhaps went to Nova Scotia, perhaps obtaining a maritime protection certificate in Newport, RI, reappearing in central IL in 1842 when at age 21 he married Mary Ann Ott 9 Apr 1842.  By 1847 he appears as an attorney in Coshocton County, OH.  He and Mary Ann had 4 children over the next decade:  Florence Elizabeth (1847), Robert Bruce (1850, Edwin F (died as an infant 1854), and Edward Florin (1855).  The family reportedly moved to Havana, IL in 1862, where a 5th child, Charles Carroll Leonard, was born and their eldest daughter married Charles Travelute in July 1864.  On 9 July 1869 Charles Carroll Leonard was killed by a locomotive.  His family left IL sometime thereafter, moving to IA, NE, and ND.  Check the following web site for over 450 Charles Leonards: assembled all known (electronic) information:  http://www.engr.pitt.edu/jleonard/CC/CCEnumeration.htm.   Who were his parents?  John Leonard is the searcher.

 

George Lawrence Leonard, b. 3 Oct 1882, d. Nov 1966 in Logansport, IN.  He was a railroad conductor living in Logansport in the 1930 Census with his wife, Marie N., sons George, John, and Herbert, and daughter Betty.  Census record says he was born in Michigan, although family says he was born in Ohio.  His father was born in Ohio according to family, although Census says father was born in Illinois and his mother in Kentucky.  Who were his parents?  Searcher:  cheeta41950 at hotmail.com.

 

Charles Leonard, born abt. 1790 in North Carolina.  He may have had a brother, Jacob, also born in NC.  They moved to Tennessee about 1830, then Mississippi in the 1840’s.  Charles had two sons, William H. and Samuel H.  Who were Charles’ parents?  Joseph E. Leonard is the searcher.

 

John Wick Leonard, born 1829 in Morris Co., NJ, married Mary Suydam 13 April 1854, Coshocton, OH, later moved to Rice Co., KS.  Who are John’s parents?  Gordon Leonard is the searcher.
